MAY 2009 NEWSLETTER

NEW GENERAL MANAGER

Welcome Stephen Cheater.

Our new General Manager started on Monday 11th May and we all welcome him and wish him well in his new role.

Steve and his wife Lyn have moved into Tea Gardens and are quickly adapting to the coastal life.

Over the coming weeks please make yourself known to Steve as he is anxious to meet members on a

individual basis and have a chat.

 LAND SALE

Following on from last month’s newsletter the Board are delighted to report that Andrew Wiesener from Crownland Developments has advised that he has

received a Section 65 Certificate and hopes to put Our land on exhibition in the next two weeks.

The exhibition will remain on public display for 6 weeks and is subject to comment during this time.

This is the next stage in the process and the Board is confident everything is proceeding according to plan.

 IRRIGATION UPDATE

Work is progressing on schedule at this stage with minimal interruption to our golf. Members are

reminded to comply with the notices and keep away from the trenches and workmen. Provided players continue to co-operate as best we can the minor

interruptions will continue for a few more weeks.

When the Contractors begin installing pipes and sprinkler heads around the greens some hole closures will occur.

 MYALL CLASSIC

Once again the Classic went off very well with good fields from about 40 clubs, including a number from Queensland. The sponsorship from Fred Sparksman, Golf and Gourmet Tours  was much appreciated. If you are planning a golfing trip give Fred a call for his expertise in this area may help you.

Over $6,500 in prizes were given out. The dinner/dance was attended by 120 guests and the music and the food, prepared by Woodlands Catering, was great.

Many compliments were received about the condition of the course and full credit must go the Damien and his staff.

A big thank you must also go to the volunteers for their help.

CHAMPIONSHIP TIME

Over the next three months Championships will be happening for all our members. Starting on Saturday 16th May with the Men’s Foursomes, closely followed on Tuesday 19th May with the Ladies Foursomes. Best of luck.

The qualifying round for the 2009 “sureshot gps” Mens Fourball Championship (which is off handicap) will be played on Saturday 30th May.

  PROMOTIONS

The current member’s promotion of a $1000

shopping spree at Retravision, Raymond Terrace, will be drawn at 8pm on Friday 22nd May, and you must be in the Club at the time of the draw to win the prize. Good luck everyone!

 BINGO

The Club ran Bingo for the first time over the school holidays and because of the popularity, it will continue during the next school holidays.

It was good fun for the young people and from what some of the grandparents said, a nice opportunity to amuse the children with something quite different.

Thanks Kevin, Damien and Sue for organizing and running it.
